Volunteers of America Colorado vuelve a ofrecer dos sesiones GRATUITAS de una semana de duración de un campamento de verano nocturno para estudiantes de 4.º y 5.º grado en el área metropolitana. Buscamos activamente niños que hayan vivido experiencias infantiles adversas y que hayan demostrado potencial de liderazgo en sus escuelas y comunidades. A lo largo de su semana en el campamento, estos niños verán el liderazgo en acción a través de sus consejeros, todos ellos afiliados a las agencias policiales locales. Desarrollarán sus propias habilidades de liderazgo a través de actividades de formación de equipos, cursos de desafío, reflexiones diarias y más. Clothes to Kids Denver: la ropa puede cambiar una vida

Volunteers of America Colorado is again offering two FREE week-long sessions of overnight summer camp for current 4th and 5th graders in the metro area. We are actively seeking kids who have lived through adverse childhood experience and who have displayed leadership potential in their schools and communities. Throughout their week at camp, these children will see leadership in action through their counselors, all of whom are affiliated with local law enforcement agencies. They’ll build their own leadership skills through team-building activities, challenge courses, daily reflections, and more. All the while experiencing a week in the mountains at the YMCA Estes Park Center facilities. Please see the flyers attached for more information. If you know of any current 4th or 5th graders who would benefit from this type of leadership experience – and who might not otherwise get a chance to attend an overnight summer camp – please nominate them at the link below. We are excited to announce the Summer Academy, running from June 9-July 3, for students below and significantly below grade level. This program will enhance math and literacy skills while fostering creativity and social growth. Spots fill up quickly so be sure to make your reservation!
Program Highlights:
Schools will start at 8 a.m. or 8:30 a.m. with sessions lasting four hours. Some schools may offer all-day sessions based on need. Registration opens soon with limited spaces. Hello DPS Parents and Guardians, Do you need assistance with applying for benefits on the Colorado Peak website? We will have a benefits specialist available at no cost on Fridays at the NW Hub at Trevista to answer questions and provide application assistance. These consultations are available by appointment only and we have spots available this week! Please sign up 
Clothes to Kids Denver – clothing can change a life
As the weather gets colder, let me know if students need jackets. We have some in the psych office. We also have some backpacks and other basic needs items like socks, underwear, hygiene kits. If we need more, we will get more. If you have new or lightly used jackets and winter gear to donate, please bring to the psych office.
DPS’ Medicaid Department helps families apply for free or low-cost health insurance, including Health First Colorado (Medicaid) and CHP+ and SNAP food assistance. We offer one-on-one appointments at any DPS school site.
Additionally, we assist families with re-enrollment and utilizing their benefits. If any of your students or anyone you know needs assistance, please contact our Outreach and Enrollment Specialists by calling 720-423-3661 or emailing outreach@dpsk12.org.
