Clothes to Kids Denver: la ropa puede cambiar una vida

Our middle schoolers love their phones. During the day, we ask that they are kept in the YONDR pouches. If they are not, you will be notified and we will hold their phone in the office.
The web store will only be open for a LIMITED TIME. After the store closes on MARCH 4th. Lab7 will begin ordering and printing the gear. This means items will not be delivered to your school until after Spring Break. Balarat staff will deliver items out to each school. All sales are final, no returns. Please note that some families in the past have said sizes were smaller than they anticipated.
Volunteers of America Colorado is again offering two FREE weeklong sessions of overnight summer camp for current 4th and 5th graders in the metro area. We are actively seeking kids who have lived through adverse childhood experience and who have displayed leadership potential in their schools and communities. Throughout their week at camp, these children will see leadership in action through their counselors, all of whom are affiliated with local law enforcement agencies. They’ll build their own leadership skills through teambuilding activities, challenge courses, daily reflections, and more. All the while experiencing a week in the mountains at the YMCA Estes Park Center facilities. Please see the flyers attached for more information. If you know of any current 4th or 5th graders who would benefit from this type of leadership experience – and who might not otherwise get a chance to attend an overnight summer camp – please nominate them at the link below. SchoolChoice is for any student who wants or needs to attend a new school for the following school year. This particularly impacts transitioning students who are typically incoming kindergarten, sixth- and ninth-grade students who are moving into a new school due to their grade level. All incoming ECE students, as well as incoming students who reside in an enrollment zone, must complete an application.

Note: Incoming ECE students must participate in SchoolChoice on a yearly basis; due to space limitations, enrollment in a preschool program is not guaranteed. Learn more about the ECE application process here. In most cases, if your student is currently in kindergarten through 11th grade and will be staying at their current school for 2025-26, you do not have to fill out a SchoolChoice application.
This project will provide hundreds of students with the opportunity to submit poetry for publication in an actual, real book! This year we are opening up submissions to all students enrolled in grades ECE through 5 in a non-charter DPS school. Poems can be about any subject, be of any length, and be written in any form or language. We will also be publishing student illustrations. For more information, read the official guidelines

Immigration Resources for Families
Nurses have been eagerly anticipating once again being able to connect students and families to resources and supports via the PAF! PAF will resume vision vouchers starting February 10th. If your child needs new glasses, please contact our nurses!
We are excited to announce the Summer Academy, running from June 9-July 3, for students below and significantly below grade level. This program will enhance math and literacy skills while fostering creativity and social growth. Spots fill up quickly so be sure to make your reservation!
Program Highlights:
Schools will start at 8 a.m. or 8:30 a.m. with sessions lasting four hours. Some schools may offer all-day sessions based on need. Registration opens soon with limited spaces. Clothes to Kids Denver – clothing can change a life
As the weather gets colder, let me know if students need jackets. We have some in the psych office. We also have some backpacks and other basic needs items like socks, underwear, hygiene kits. If we need more, we will get more. If you have new or lightly used jackets and winter gear to donate, please bring to the psych office.
DPS’ Medicaid Department helps families apply for free or low-cost health insurance, including Health First Colorado (Medicaid) and CHP+ and SNAP food assistance. We offer one-on-one appointments at any DPS school site.
Additionally, we assist families with re-enrollment and utilizing their benefits. If any of your students or anyone you know needs assistance, please contact our Outreach and Enrollment Specialists by calling 720-423-3661 or emailing outreach@dpsk12.org.
