Special Education

My name is Andrew W. Hernandez, and I go by Dr. Hernandez with students. I teach Special Education in 6th-, 7th-, and 8th-grade. My pronouns are he/him/his. I speak English, Spanish and French.

Hello! My name is Dr. Hernandez, and I am really excited to be a new Special Education teacher at Bryant Webster. I love reading, writing, running and hiking. I also love traveling! I am a heritage Spanish speaker of Puerto Rican descent, which means I heard a lot of Spanish growing up, but I had to improve it in high school, college and study abroad. I learned French while conducting research in West Africa, mainly in Mali, for my PhD in Cultural Anthropology. I taught at the college level for eight years before transitioning to elementary/middle school education four years ago. I am committed to dual language education, as I want everyone to feel confident in their Spanish and English literacy, and by extension, their heritage and cultural connections. ¡Pa’lante!
